For the third straight year, a volunteer medical team traveled to Peru in April to treat children born with facial and oral malformations. Dr. Lloyd B. Gayle, a plastic surgeon from New York City, led a team of fourteen professionals that successfully operated on thirty-three children, giving them new smiles and hope for a better future. “The trip to Arequipa changed many lives. The children and their families will never forget us and we will never forget them. We are blessed to have a skillset that can be applied to help children in developing countries, who otherwise would go untreated,” said Don Connell, a CRNA on the team.
