TURNING WISHES INTO REALITIES

During a six-month stay in New Jersey, Eulalia Estaban Pedro, a thirteen-year-old from Guatemala, underwent two surgeries for a frontal encephalocele performed by Dr. Richard Anderson, pediatric neurosurgeon and Dr. Silvio Podda, plastic surgeon at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center – all of which was pro-bono. Hosted by the Asmar family in Clifton, Eulalia was embraced as a loving member of the family. “Having three children of our own, we knew that a parent would do anything for the well-being of their child, and knowing that Eulalia came from a less fortunate region, we wanted to make a difference in her life,” said Ramia Asmar, Host Mother.
