It is no surprise that Carlos’s joyful reaction to his new adult-sized prostheses brought tears to his Host parent’s eyes. Nick and Jackie Alectoridis have hosted Carlos numerous times, while he underwent surgery, fittings and physical therapy. “Carlos is a member of our family. He picked the design which makes him look electric in his new legs,” said Jackie. The ability to provide Carlos with new legs, could not have happened without the Alectoridis family and Peter Buffington, owner of Achilles Prosthetics and Orthotics in Ramsey, NJ.  Peter, who has fitted Carlos since his youth, secured over $50,000 of donated prosthetic hardware, ran a half marathon to raise funds, and donated his services. 

A participant in the International Inbound Program since 2004, Carlos has touched the lives of everybody who has met him with his perseverance, positive disposition and smile. Healing the Children New Jersey is grateful to everybody who has supported Carlos on his journey, and wishes him well as he prepares to return home with wind at his back and a spring in his step.
